Discover the newly opened Olympic Village in Paris, which will accommodate thousands of athletes, staff, and volunteers during the Games.
In Paris, the highly anticipated Olympic Village has officially opened its doors to welcome the first athletes. This village, designed to house participants of the upcoming Olympic Games, is a remarkable feat in itself. Located in a serene setting, the village is expected to become home to around 9,000 athletes, 4,000 staff members, and 1,500 volunteers.
The village is designed to accommodate a total population of approximately 14,500 people. With 82 buildings, the complex offers a total of 3,000 apartments and 7,200 rooms. Each apartment is equipped with basic amenities to ensure the comfort and convenience of its occupants.
The Olympic Village is a temporary community created specifically for the duration of the games, which will run from July 26th to August 11th. After the event concludes, the village will undergo a transformation, becoming a new residential neighborhood for the city.
Features of the Olympic Village:
- No Air Conditioning: While the apartments provide a comfortable living space, there are no air conditioning units installed. The organizers have taken measures to ensure natural ventilation and cooling systems are in place.
- Shared Bathrooms: One of the peculiarities of the Olympic Village is the arrangement of bathrooms. Each room shares a bathroom with an adjoining room, promoting a sense of community and cooperation among the athletes.
- Antisex Beds: In an effort to maintain a focus on the sporting event and avoid distractions, the Olympic Village features "antisex" beds. These beds are intentionally designed to be less comfortable for activities other than sleeping.
