French watchmaker Charlie Paris has partnered with the Fédération Française de la Randonnée Pédestre (French Hiking Federation) to create a hiking-inspired timepiece. This collaboration resulted in the development of the Grande Randonnée (GR) collection, which includes two new models introduced in 2024.
One of the new models is the Charlie Paris GR Mecaquartz Chronograph, which features a time-only version with a 24-hour display. The watch is crafted from brushed 316L stainless steel with high-polished bevels, and the case measures 39mm in diameter and 10.6mm in thickness. The watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The Charlie Paris GR Chronograph is powered by the Seiko Caliber VK64 mecaquartz chronograph movement, which provides a battery life of approximately three years. The watch is available in four different dial colors, with the green-dial version showcased in this model. The dial features a multi-layered design with applied Arabic numeral hour markers and a date window at 6 o'clock.
The green surface of the dial is sandblasted and is adorned with white and khaki-colored markings. The time-telling hands are polished with khaki-colored luminous accents, while the chronograph hands are painted white. The watch features a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring high legibility even with the presence of reflections.
The Charlie Paris GR Mecaquartz Chronograph is available with nylon or leather straps, as well as a stainless steel bracelet option. The bracelet features a five-link construction with brushed sides and high-polished center links. It includes a signed clasp with a double push-button release, but has no integrated extension system.
